Clothing and the weather
Perth in April is Autumn, perfect days and beautiful nights

Driving in Australia
Overseas and international driver’s licences are recognized throughout Australia and all car hire companies will require clients to produce their licence. In Australia we drive on the left side of the road. In the north and inland of Western Australia there are many unsealed roads and caution using these is recommended. If considering travelling to remote areas of Australia it is important to seek advice before you depart.

Electrical equipment
The supply in the Perth is 220/240 volts at 50 cycles. Some of the larger hotels provide 110 volt sockets for shavers, but you might need a small transformer and a plug conversion kit to suit Australian three-point sockets.

Currency
Our currency is the Australian Dollar with 100 cents to the dollar. You will see notes in denominations of A$100, A$50, A$20, A$10 and A$5 and coins worth A$2, A$1, 50 cents, 20 cents, 10 cents and 5 cents. To exchange overseas currency or travellers’ cheques go to a bank or ask at your hotel or look for a licensed currency exchange bureau at any international airport and in major centres.

Medical Information
Perth and its surrounds has excellent medical, ambulance and dental facilities but these are not free and the Organisers strongly recommend that travel and medical insurance is taken out to cover your Australian visit. The Organisers, the Secretariat, their agents and staff do not take any responsibility for injury, death or loss or damage to property for participants, however caused. No vaccines are required for visitors entering Australia except if a person is coming from a Yellow Fever affected country. In such cases a current Yellow Fever vaccination certificate must be presented with the passport during the immigration check at the entry port.

Time Zones
Australia has three time zones: Western Australia uses Western Standard Time (WST). Australian Western Standard Time is 1 hour 30 minutes behind Australian Central Standard Time and 2 hours behind Australian Eastern Standard Time.

• Eastern Standard Time (EST) covers Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Tasmania
• Central Standard Time (CST) covers the middle of Australia – Northern Territory and South Australia
• Western Standard Time (WST) covers Western Australia
