Travel Information

ACCESS AROUND PERTH

Public Transport
Public Transport in Perth is modern, very accessible and in many cases complimentary. From the proposed venue access to accommodation can be through walking, the CAT bus system, train, ferry, own transport or taxi. See Free Transit Zone for further information.

Trains
A modern electric train system that connects the city to most suburban areas. The trains then connect with a network of buses to service the public transport demand. The train system is simple to negotiate and very safe.

Buses and Ferries
These service the train system to ensure the city and suburbs are covered. Within the city there is a complimentary bus service. Any bus operating within the city centre is free to all passengers travelling within the CBD.

There is also a scheduled, complimentary service called the “CAT” buses, which operate for extended hours through the city, West Perth, East Perth and the entertainment district of Northbridge. The CAT buses also cater for passengers with disabilities.

Private Transport
Perth is blessed with a modern road network incorporating major highways and well planned feeder roads that ensure good traffic flow. It is rare to experience traffic delays in Perth. Vehicles use the left hand lanes of the carriageway. There are a number of vehicle hire companies in Perth with national and international links.

Taxis
Taxis are regularly available from all hotels to the conference venue. From most CBD hotels you would expect a maximum 5 minute taxi ride.

Perth Airport
Perth airport is serviced by many of the major international carriers and has numerous direct flights throughout the world, to other Australian capital cities. The Sheraton Perth Hotel is 12 kilometres from the domestic airport. A taxi ride will take about 20 minutes and cost approximately AUD$21.00.  The international airport is located 19 kilometres from the hotel, and a taxi costs approximately AUD$27.00 and will take about 30 minutes.
